Week of 9/7 - 9/9

Hi Bumblebees,
We sure packed a lot of fun and learning into a short week! As always, thanks for your interest in your child's education! Enjoy the pictures.

Reading Chester's journal about his super fun weekend with Yena!
Weekly chapel started this week on Tuesday morning. How fun to get together with all the other classes and hear a Bible story and sing songs!
We talked a lot about being able to tell how someone is feeling by looking at their face. Your child practiced this by choosing a picture of a face and describing how the person in the picture was feeling. We also practiced a little creativity by making up WHY the person in the picture felt this way. Good thinking/interpreting skills!!
We practice our chapel Bible verse every day in class! Our current Bible verse is Joshua 1:9. Ask your child to say it for you and show you the hand motions!
Practicing more "big kid" coloring, this time with markers!
We spent a lot of time this week learning simple ABAB patterns!
We each made our own pattern!
Some of us even chose to build patterns during play time!
More patterns (we're really getting good at these!)
Our helper each day helps us count the days of the month
A little color/shape review
Practicing writing our names....
...we are seeing so much improvement with your children writing their names. Keep practicing!
Congratulations to our star students this week! Sammy, Haley, Riley, Yena, and Zach. Their bumblebees flew to the top of the mountains this week (and if you don't know what that means, please ask your child to explain, and stop by our classroom to find out!).
Chester is going home with Riley, Sammy has the class picture book, and Zach is taking our Brown Bear home. Have fun!
NEXT WEEK:
*The letter Aa! (your child came home with our weekly letter envelope in their folder today. We will use the same envelope for the whole alphabet....please do NOT seal it shut! Instructions for using the envelope are on the outside of the envelope. Please return to school on MONDAY).
*Our five senses
*TUESDAY--Yellow Day! Please wear yellow and bring in ONE yellow item from home for show-and-tell.

Please practice with your child:
*Spelling their name out loud
*Writing their first name
*The pledge of allegiance
*Simple ABAB patterns (you can do this with colors, shapes, letters, etc).
*Recognizing, writing, and the sound of A!

Class wish list:
*3 oz plastic cups
THANKS to Samantha's mom for picking up the fire hats for us!
