Hi Bumblebees,
For a short week of school, we sure packed a lot in! Enjoy the pictures.

It's all about zoo animals this week!
Q is for quilt....we learned how quilts are made from different pieces of cloth and different patterns
Putting our own quilt pieces together
Our beautiful class quilt
Brianna showing us the great Q items she brought in the sound box (Q is hard!)
So many fun things you can do with quilts -- just like in our quilt story. Thanks to Haley, Samantha, and Kate for bringing in their quilts to share with us!
Kaylee got to take our letter-of-the-week book home. The Quilt Story by Tony Johnston!
Zoo animals everywhere!
What is your favorite zoo animal?
What would your zoo look like?
We even turned ourselves into zoo animals!
Zoo friends!
Zoo friends play together...
...and work together!
We searched through a pile of coins to find quarters! (do this with your kids at home!)
Q is for quick with Alphabet Al!
We practiced writing our new sight word "zoo" in our journals!
Please check this picture to see if your child (or zoo animal) is responsible for anything this week. Have fun!
NEXT WEEK:
*The letter R (please send in an 'r' picture in the letter envelope on MONDAY)
*MONDAY--please send in a baby picture of your child if you haven't yet! We need them soon!

Please have your child wear clothes that can be around dirty farm animals that day as we will be petting the animals! Due to insurance reasons, younger siblings are not allowed to come visit the animals with us!

Please practice with your child:
*All letters and sounds A through R
*finding quarters among a variety of coins
*animal homes (which ones live in the ocean, zoo, farm, etc)

Class wish list:
*potting soil
*lima beans (dry)

Week of 2/14 - 2/17

Hi Bumblebees,
Thanks so much for all the Valentine's Day goodies! I think I have enough chocolate to last me the rest of the year! Enjoy the pictures.

Reading Chester & Ronny's journal about their fun weekend with Kaylee
It's all about the letter P this week!
P is for popcorn (thanks Turner family!)
Going fishing!
Yeah for yummy Valentine's cookies. Decorating it might be the most fun part!
Digging for seashells!
Kate showing us all the "P" items she brought in the class sound box!
Thanks so much for doing our "fish books" with us. You'd be amazed how just reading a book to your child each night helps with their literacy growth!
Cupid came to visit (in the form of Mrs. Darcie!). After she passed out some valentines, we got to pass out ours to our friends. Sure is a lot of love (and candy!) in the Bumblebee class!
Thanks to Mrs. Karen who helped us out this week while Mrs. Valeria was home sick!
We love to stamp!

....read together....
....and watch a movie! all in our pajamas!
Practicing lacing (some of the kids need more work on this skill. If you have lacing cards at home, please practice with them)
We love the ABC Mystery box!

Week of 2/7 - 2/10

Hi Bumblebees,
Happy Valentine's Day! We spent the whole week getting ready....our valentine card exchange is on Monday! Enjoy the pictures.

Reading Chester and Ronny's journal about their fun weekend with Kate!
We played a LOT of alphabet review games this week (this is just an example of one that we used) to review A through O
We went on letter hunts around the room!
Who do you love? And why?
We practiced writing all the letters we've learned!
The kids are still signing in every morning...with their first AND last names now
The kids had so much fun making a valentine for you. They really do love you "to pieces!"
PINK DAY!
Practicing our ABC patterns with hearts
Won't you "bee" mine?
We wrote all the uppercase and lowercase letters in our journal. The kids did super with these!
Cute!
We are getting to be much better artists as the year goes on!
Happy Birthday Mrs. Pam! Hope you got the chance to wish her well and thank her for all she does!
Graphing candy hearts (before we got to eat some!). Please go over these with your kids...and the words "most" and "least"
A little number review too
Decorating our valentine's bags to get ready for our exchange next week!
Please check this picture to see if your child is responsible for anything this weekend. Have fun!
NEXT WEEK:
*The letter P (please send in a "p" picture in the letter envelope on MONDAY)
*Ocean animals
*MONDAY--our class valentine exchange. A list of all the kids' names came home in your child's folder. Please be sure to send in a valentine for EACH kid so no one is left out.
*WEDNESDAY--Pajama Day! Please have your child wear weather-and-school-appropriate pajamas to school in honor of the letter P. They may bring in a pillow also, if they would like. These pillows will be used on the floor, so perhaps a couch cushion, pillow pet, etc would be better than one from your child's bed.

Please practice with your child:
*All letters and sounds A through P

Class wish list:
*We need to borrow a quilt for letter Q in a few weeks. If you have one we can use, please let me know asap
*Ocean animal fruit snacks (Nemo, sharks, etc) for next week's ocean animal theme
