Hi Bumblebees,
Happy 2011 and welcome back! It was fun to hear about all the fun things your family did over Christmas vacation! We have started back into the 2nd half of the school year with a lot of fun, learning (and birthdays!).
Happy 5th birthday, Mackenzie! We're so glad you're a Bumblebee! Thanks for the yummy cake too.

It's all about the letter K this week (thanks for sending in a K picture, even after vacation!)

K is for
kids that
kick with Alphabet Al!

Happy 5th birthday to Brianna! We're so glad you're in our class! Thanks for the yummy cupcakes too!

Our class fish hook is starting to catch some "fish books." Some of you have seen these already. Please check your child's folder each day. On the day when s/he is the teacher's helper they will be bringing home a blank fish. Please read them a story at home, fill out the fish, and return the next day!

Yena took home our letter-of-the week book this week. Miss Bindergarten gets ready for Kindergarten by Joseph Slate!

Lacing our winter mittens

We have started practicing learning our last names....here we got to stamp them!

Thanks to Mrs. Paula from the Dolphins class for showing us her
kitten! We even got to pet it!

We are working on recognizing the names of the days of the week, and have begun learning the months of the year in order!

After lacing our mittens, we read "The Mitten" by Jan Brett and filled up our mitten with all the animals from the story. Have your child retell this story to you!

Thanks to Mrs. Tonya for helping us out while Mrs. Valeria couldn't be there. She played our mitten memory matching game with us (we're getting much better at this!)

Some fun stuff going home this weekend. Please check this picture to see if your child is responsible for anything. Have fun!

NEXT WEEK:
*The letter L (please send in and "l" picture in the letter envelope on Monday)
*Community Helpers (if you have not sent in your community helpers project yet, and would like to, please send it in on Monday. Thanks to those of you who already sent it in!)
*TUESDAY--Blue Day! Please wear blue and bring one blue item for show-and-tell
Please practice with your child:
*Recognizing, spelling, and writing your last name!
*Days of the week and months of the year in order
